The Highway Herald

It was hard to believe the people who said that the four years you spend in  high school would fly by in the blink of an eye. I’m Petula and I am a senior at Teaneck High School. Let me tell you, I believe them now. Over these past 4 years, more like 2 ½ in the building, I have made many good and bad decisions. Those decisions whether it be friends, school, or activities have made me into the person I am today. Music has always had a great impact on my life, guiding and comforting me. In the time that I spent in the building as well as the time I couldn’t set foot inside, music helped me navigate my day. No one tells you that those same years that already seemed so short, go even faster when half of your high school experience is not in the high school. Probably because they’ve never had to go through that. I feel like we as kids and young adults don’t get as much attention as we should for the drastic life conditions we’ve had to face and still keep it all together. I can’t name another generation who had to cut off physical contact with their loved ones just to jump back into “normalcy” while upholding expectations throughout. I’m glad that I had music to keep me sane through it all and I’m relieved it is all almost over.
