Hello! I’m Amanda Gerena, and I’m currently a senior, wow. I have really big interests in most media, pop culture, and history. A lot of my interests have the through line of me wanting to learn more about the backgrounds and foundations of different topics. I found myself really intrigued by pop culture, history, and analyzing film. Among them, my hobbies include reading, writing, fashion, and learning about music production.  My interest in writing seriously began in sophomore year. I had already found a great interest in consuming documentaries and essays, getting my hands on everything I could. I never thought that I could be the one writing such pieces of literature until I watched Gilmore Girls which put more emphasis on the production of a newspaper than I had seen before. It totally engrossed me with the idea of doing it myself. Last year I was assigned to complete a research paper, and usually I really enjoy the research aspect but the writing part seemed very daunting until I started to write out my ideas and it was a great experience. At the same time a teacher of mine recommended I join the newspaper, and I thought I’d enjoy being a photographer for it, which I still do, but now I’m extremely excited to contribute in a literary sense to the paper and the school. I hope that my work will add positively to the student body and staff of our school, whilst being informative and true to personal sensibilities and personality.
