Marc Jacobs the proud designer that made the brand Marc Jacobs, used to be a Teaneck High student himself! Marc was born in New York on April 9, 1963, but he was raised in Teaneck.
At the age of 15, he designed and sold his first line of hand-knit sweaters. He went to two different high schools while growing up, Teaneck High School for about three years, and then went to the High School of Art and Design.
After high school, he went to study at Parsons School of Design in New York. Once he graduated he was looking forward to making his own brand.
In 1984 Marc made up his brand and started making bags, jewelry, shoes, wallets, and fragrances. Over the years he became more and more popular in the fashion industry. He won a reward called the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France and he also won the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Perry Ellis Award for new fashion talent and was the youngest designer ever to receive it.
In 1997 he became the creative designer of Louis Vuitton and made the company’s first ready-to-wear clothing line but left in 2014.
So far he’s been on many interviews, traveling everywhere, designing more clothes and bags for his brand, and he got married! In 2019 he got married to his husband Charly Defrancesco and has been happy ever since.
This is the life of one of Teaneck High’s famous students who went to the school and this can give someone hope for themselves in making it big in the world by going to Teaneck High.
