Fright Fest

Naomi Walcott, Staff Writer

This was a night that I will never forget till the day I die cause it meant the entire world to me. I have always wanted to go to Fright Fest at Six Flags..it had been on my bucket list for some time now. The way that they would advertise it on cable, got me wondering why haven’t I ever been before. Probably because I was smaller and now that I have become seventeen and was much older my parents thought it was a good idea to go with my older brother and encouraged it. Going inside the park there were tons of people scattered around. There were employees dressed up in costumes, trying to scare everybody. The fountain, which is usually blue, was filled with red to resemble blood on that gritty scary night. It was freezing cold at the end of the night, around thirty degrees.

There were fog machines, to give the park a spooky feel and we only had a few hours to make the most of it. I was the one leading the way, and my brother would just be okay with whatever ride we wanted to go on. The first ride we went on was Skull Mountain, it is like an indoor ride. It is a ritual whenever I go to the park, to always ride that one first just to ease into riding the bigger roller coasters there. The ride that I wanted to go on but was a little scared of because I was looking at the drop with fear heavy in my eyes was Nitro. The line was long so we brought a flash pass but it was only for that ride because the flash passes were sold out for the night.

My stomach felt a little nauseous. I sought comfort by hugging my brother, to calm down a little, and to realize that I will be just fine. I took the middle seat on one of the rows, and my brother took the side which is the outside of the cart we were in. When the big drop came, we were pushed forward to the bar to keep us in, and I screamed very loud. I screamed almost on every single huge roller coaster I went on, and at the end, my throat hurt but besides that, I overcame my fear on that ride and we ended up riding it over and over again. Each time, more fun and exciting and thrilling than the next. We called it a day and ended up getting turkey legs. They were juicy and tasted wonderful. Heck, they always did.
