Shut In

Sierra Ochoa, Staff Writer

As the story opens, a horrible car crash has killed Mary’s husband and left 18-year-old stepson Stephen (Charlie Heaton of “Stranger Things”) paralyzed from the neck down and unable to communicate. One night, a standout amongst her patients, an adolescent deaf boy named Tom (Jacob Tremblay starting with “Room”) turns up on her doorstep. Before she can do anything, he takes off into the night and cannot be found. As the hunt for Tom begins, Mary blames herself and feels incredibly guilty because of what has happened until strange things begin happening around the house. While her friend suggests that she is suffering from parasomnia as the results of what has happened, she does not believe them. When Tom is not found, she becomes obsessed with the idea that his ghost is haunting her. Shut In is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for terror and some violence/bloody images, nudity, thematic elements and brief strong language.
